Pair of fine ivory table screens. Qing, late 18th c.
A pair of finely carved ivory table screens with sceneries evidently from the popular novel Honglou meng (Dream of the Red Pavillion). On the back sides a pair of Tang poems in semi-cursive calligraphy. Still with remains of original colors. The frames rendered in openwork lattice. One screen made of three parts (frame panels). Qing, 18th cent. H 20 cm, W 11 cm. Condition: Minor crack to bottom of one screen, otherwise very good.
