CELADON VASE GINGER JAR FORM, converted to a very elegant large lamp. The jar is late 19th century and has the original ornately carved wooden lid, and a carved wooden stand. The porcelain is sage color with crackle glaze. Fittings are early 20th century, with a wooden spindle, double socket,one replaced for safety. Appears to have impressed marks with spaces, but unreadable. Old paper label on base "$20.00" expensive for the 20s-30's era. Dimensions: 24 Inches, The Jar 10 Inches Condition: Excellent. Drill hole to base. No chips or cracks.

This is the most intriguing and spectacular pair of Japanese Shishi figurines. I specialize in figural Asian porcelain and these figures are a rare find,I have never seen a pair quite like these, and unfortunately I can not read the character marks. The Shishi, or Foos if you prefer appear to be Kutani, with starburst marks characteristic of late 19th centur Japanese. Great flamboyant style, pizazz and wonderful brilliant polychrome color and unique details. The Shishi have a unique charming almost folk art "mingei" feel. There was old felt backing which I have removed but find no identifying marks, so the figurines probably date to pre 1890. I have left a very early price sticker which came with the figurines. Dimensions: Height 8 1/4" (24.50cm) . Length 4 3/4" (11cm) Width 3 1/2" (9cm) Condition: No Damage, normal wear for the period.
