CELADON VASE GINGER JAR FORM, converted to a very elegant large lamp. The jar is late 19th century and has the original ornately carved wooden lid, and a carved wooden stand. The porcelain is sage color with crackle glaze. Fittings are early 20th century, with a wooden spindle, double socket,one replaced for safety.
Appears to have impressed marks with spaces, but unreadable.
Old paper label on base "$20.00" expensive for the 20s-30's era.
Dimensions: 24 Inches, The Jar 10 Inches
Condition: Excellent. Drill hole to base. No chips or cracks.

KUTANI BLUE AND WHITE hand painted SOMETSUKE porcelain figural Kannon (Qwan Yin) of unusually fine quality. Kannon is portrayed here in a serene position of devotion hands enfolded around a scroll. The Goddess is barefoot and is portrayed here in 19th century or earlier robes. Kannon is signed with an impressed charcter mark and a small blue hallmark on the biscuit base.
I have a special fondness for the Goddess of Mercy, and this early devotional figure is exceptional in every way.

This is an exceptionally carved and especially pleasing late Qing Dynasty FOO DOG and PUPPY carved of fine lavender jadite. Sculpted in great detail this is a fairly large carved work. Mamma and her puppy with a brocade ball and bilowing ribbon are totally adorable. The Foos recline on a detailed carved and cut out plinth made especially for the sculpture.
This very special winsome sculptural carving dates to turn of the century or earlier. If there is such a thing as personality in carving, it shows in this figural sculpture.
