Here is a most unique and charming Chinese pewter KOI fish compote. The compote dates to the first quarter or the 19th century, or earlier. The pewter is tooled in a simple rustic pattern used on pewter items of this period. The eyes are clear hand blown glass, and the pewter is soft and malable. The fish compote is signed on the fishes forehead. This item is all original with no replacements.

Dimensions: 14" Length
7" Height
Condition: Excellent, some normal wear typical of the period. No repairs. Pewter is soft and can be bent.

CHINESE EXPORT TEA POT, Koi (Carp) figural early 19th century Chinese Export. Heavily chased and tooled pewter, copper trimmed edging on gills and surrounding red coral eyes. Top lid is well fitted and removable, shaped pewter handle swivels on original mounts. The pouring spout is his nose. No replacements. Stands on malable pewter feet.

Chinese Koi (Carp) pewter compote or tureen, heavily and finely chased and tooled, signed by maker, circa mid 19th century. Tureen is in two parts, with hand blown glass eyes, wavy fins and tail, and interesting folk art details. Pewter is soft and maleble, and can be easily moved and adjusted for fit. The tureen is crafted in a charming naieve style, displays wonderfully. THIS KOI HAS ATTITUDE!
