A lovely famille rose accent WITH LOVELY SCROLLED FLORAL ORANGE PEEL TEXTURE for the serious collector. signed on base. Dimensions: Height 8" Width 6 1/2" Condition: Excellent. Lid has been broken and glued. Can be easily and invisibly restored.

SAMSON porcelain is one of my favorite things to collect. I am pleased to offer this delightful large and unusual box in the form of stacked books. This is very typical of the Armorial works of Samson of Paris, made to imitate Chinese Export. Many collectors believe Samson did better copies than the originals. The box and gilt rim is all intact and the polychrome details are sharp, highlighted by the embossed raised details so familiar to Samson. I can not tell you if the box is signed as the bottom is covered with old green felt. However, I can tell you that Samson prices are skyrocketing as pieces are grabbed up by collectors! This unusual pair of green and yellow pottery Sancai FOO DOGS or Foo Lion are early Ming style, and are actually Joss Stick holders used in Buddhist ceremonies. Definitely more interesting and charming than the usual "foo on the block." This porcelain duo is marked Made in China and dates to the turn of the century. Dimensions: 5 1/2"(14cm) Height 4"(16cm) Length 3"(7.50cm) Base Condition: Very Good. A small flake on one base edge, no damage.
