AN INCREDIBLE LARGE CHINESE WOOD TANG HORSE to consider, which I have done for many years. Plenty of photos you decide. I will be happy to discuss all details,opinions, etc.
I have had good appraisals and know no more than I did when I bought this horse 23 years ago.
The gesso is over wood, evidence of several repaints over the years, or centuries for that matter. The base shows traces of early gilt. The body is constructed of several pieces of wood.
I own several fine Tang sculptures, trust none of them to be period, purchased at the best venues. I truly believe this is not recent, though how old I don't know. If I don't sell the horse, will have it TL tested and post data Several Asian clients who have been in my home expressed strong interest, but horse was not for sale.
