Here is an unbelievable 18th century Quanyin (Guanyin) carrying a flowering lotus,of fine translucent RHINOCEROUS HORN,purchased earlier this year from a respected and advanced collector, selling his collections due to retirement.
Rhino horn is not true horn, rather a finger nail like tissue and deeply compressed hair.
PHOTO & shown here is of a similar Qwanyin figural sold at auction November, 2005 at Chaffins Auction Gallery London. I will include the file for interested parties.
DIMENSIONS: 10" curved...
CONDITION: Gentle and appropriate patina from much loved handling of the Goddess of Mercy.

Celadon to turquoise glaze on this massive 15"(38cm) vase is only enhanced by the sudden awareness that the handles are actually elephant heads.
The stunning drip glaze and harmonious balance is strongly Chinese in style. The vase bears only a hand etched numerical number on the base.
