Quite wonderful "Mammy and Child" a naive rendering with magnificent carved features, lovely polychromed buttermilk paint.
This wooden carved sculpture has a most unusual provenance, documented in the early 1980's by Maine Antiques Digest. This work was originally a "knock off" of depression era (30's) style, the carver well documented, and acknowleged. I have sold a number of his pieces at California shows in the 1970'3-80's. A Folk Art Lion may be available later.
