Exceptionally fine miniature Japanese black lacquer Kodansu with three enclosed drawers, each with a tooled pull. The openwork floral hinges and findings are delicate with tiny hand made nails which have finishing detsils also. A magnificent painted cockerel in bamboo and rockwork done in high relief guards the door.Chrysanthemums and foliage highlight the sides and top. A rare collectors work of art. Dimensions: 6 7/8"(17cm) Height,7"(17.50cm) Depth, 5 1/4"(13cm) Width Condition: Very good for period. Some wear to edges and lacquer as can be expected of am early cosmetic box.
