CHINESE HARDSTONE FOO DOG CENSER 19th Century
Here is a most unusual two piece censer, or covered ash tray. The top has a highly detailed carved trio of magnificently carved foo dogs in combat, each with a paw connected to another. The rounded base has a key fret pattern on the rim and there are circular turned marks on the base. The details on the foo dogs are incomparable. This appears to be brown jadeite, or another stone bowenite? but I am not certain which one. Whatever it is is spectacular.

Dimensions 6" diameter 3 1/4" height Condition: Very fine. One small chip on inner lid.
