I love the work of Samson, the great Chinoisere porcelain manufacturer France, pre 1900. This charming MORTAR AND PESTLE is a masterpiece of Chinoisere design, and is signed The armorial pattern is of a lion coat of arms, used frequently by Esme Samson in imitating Chinese Export. The enamels are especally lovely, and the applied relief florals further enhance the charming small mortar and pestle.
