| Birdcage,late 19th Century France,Louis XV style. In the manner of Veuve Perrin The surface of the large tin-glazed ceramic cage and pierced cover are finely painted with flowers and foliate scrolls in shades of green purple and yellow on a white ground. The top of the roof form cover is drilled and fitted with a brass ball and ring handle. The interior is fitted with a removable silver painted metal cage liner. The base is signed/painted: "FRANCE". Dimensions: Dimensions: 18-1/4" High (to top of brass handle), 15" High (to top of cover/roof), 10-1/4" Wide, 8-1/4" Deep. Weight: 7lbs. Condition: There is one break/crack along three of the four corners on the ceramic cage (along the middle) which have been repaired and partially overpainted. There are a number of small/minor surface chips/flakes along the edges of the scrolled rims and feet. There is some light rubbing/wear to the enameled pattern along the surface/edges of the cage and cover. There is some chipping around the drilled hole to the top of the cover. The metal cage liner appears to have bee re-painted. Otherwise, the birdcage is in good condition. | |||||||||||
