Longquan Celadon Ge Kiln Calabash Melon Vase by Lu Wei-Sun
This is a unique vase with classic Ge kiln crackled glaze. The artist Mr. Lu, Wei-Sun is praised one of the potting professional in the fields. He concentrates most effort in potting innovation. At first glance the vase that looked like a fat calabash. However when look into details it was crafted and potted to present the best harmony and balance.
The most difficult part fell into the firing process. It’s estimated the height around 26cm before firing. Usually the shape with groove such as calabash causes very high failure rate due to deform. The waist part is easily distorted in overall structure due to gravity and other reasons.
The Chinese Longquan celadon Ge kiln calabash melon base is in perfect condition with Lu, Wei-Sun’s signature on base and certificate in wooden box from his workshop. |
