A fine Kakiemon type dish painted in undeglaze blue and additional enamels and gilding and decorated with a border pattern of Pheasants, kiji and Autumn flowers, Omaneshi, Patrina, Japanese Asters, and, Kikyo, Bell flowers, and a simple Sansui landscape to the central reserve. The porcelain has a remarkably white appearance typical of the Kakiemon and the Nangawara group of kilns. The dish is painted with Kure, chestnuts, a popular seasonal motif emblematic of Autumn. Unusually the design is largely drawn with a matt iron brown enamel rather the more usual matt black enamel, which is limited to the veining of the leaves.
