A sturdily constructed Henan stoneware bottle with slightly iridescent glaze. About 5-1/2" H x 4-1/4" W at shoulder. Excellent condition and color with no damage. A brownish slip glaze was applied to the biscuit and a second darker glaze applied over it. As you may see, chocolate brown shows through mainly at the shoulder, mouth and base. Additional images on request. Henan black glazed wares date from the Song through the Qing dynasties. Insured shipping at cost.

Hebei-Henan stoneware bowl with black glaze and red-brown overglaze decoration. About 7" (17.8cm) W x 3-1/4" (8.3cm) H. Please note production flaw in cavetto, also on the base, but the bowl holds water and does not leak. Original condition with no damage or repairs. A fine Chinese stoneware hexagonal form wine or teapot, which follows the form of a metal precedent, and dates to late seventeenth or early eighteen century, the Kangxi period 1662-1722. The body is crisply moulded with panels of decoration containing set precious objects against an elaborate diaper ground based on lacquer and metal precedents of the late Ming and early Qing period. Silver mounted Chinese Yixing teapot with lid attached to handle by a chain, signed on the base and dating to the 19th Century. An interesting feature is the rings, which are cleverly made to move along the lid handle loop. About 4.33" (11cm) H x 6.10" (15.5cm) from tip of spout to end of handle. Rare, large Henan bowl with buff stoneware body, decorated with two rows of radiating overglaze brown strokes on a black ground. On the exterior, the russet streaked and mottled glaze falls well short of the unglazed foot. Yuan dynasty (1271-1368), North (Cizhou). The decoration seen here testifies to the continued popularity of russet-embellished black-glazed wares into the Yuan period, but also to the simplified nature of that decoration.
