Pristine, thinly potted Chinese export Nanking soup plate with great color. No chips, frits, cracks, hairlines, repairs or scratches to glaze. Made from fine kaolin and petunse in Ching-te-chen, where it was decorated, fired and glazed; it was then transported to Nanking and finally by the sea route to Canton to be sold. A sturdily constructed Henan stoneware bottle with slightly iridescent glaze. About 5-1/2" H x 4-1/4" W at shoulder. Excellent condition and color with no damage. A brownish slip glaze was applied to the biscuit and a second darker glaze applied over it. As you may see, chocolate brown shows through mainly at the shoulder, mouth and base. Additional images on request. Henan black glazed wares date from the Song through the Qing dynasties. Insured shipping at cost.
