Fine Chinese Immortals Dish Ming Tianqi c.1630
SOLD

The dish is decorated with two groups of figures two of whom can be identified with the eight Daoist Immortals and perhaps the female figures in the composition are intended to represent the Queen Mother of the West with two of her attendants overseeing from their Island retreat of Penglai some sampans in the foreground. The more usual version has four figures on the left-hand side of the dish, whilst this version has five figures. The dish dates the late Tianqi or early Chongzhen period. The dish measures 19.2cm in diameter, and is in good condition with expected mushikui fritting to its edge. Shipping at Cost.
