Japanese Bronze Horai-zu Kagami Mirror Edo
A Japanese polished bronze mirror cast with a depiction of Penglai, Horai Island, the home of the Daoist immortals and a symbol of longevity. Beneath a spreading Pine tree is a menagerie of birds including Tsuru cranes, and three Ducks, oshidori, symbols of longevity and marital harmony. The boss of the Mirror formed by a Kame, tortoise, characteristically ”kissing” the Cranes. Dating Edo period probably 17th or 18th century. The mirror measures 12.1 cm in diameter and is 1.4cm high at the rim. It is in good condition with some wear to the originally “silvered” tinned mirror surface. Shipping at Cost
