A rare set of composite miniature hunting trophies. Sample exhibit, advertising, and movie set replicas created by the sculptor Louis Paul Jonas, 1894 -1971.
Jonas studied with the internationally known naturalist, animal sculptor, and taxidermist Carl Akeley (1864-1926), and completed commissions for the American Museum of Natural History. This is a cased set of 8 sterling gold gilded fox head George VI coffee spoons found in England. Made by Suckling LTD for Swaine & Adeney in the 30's. Fully hallmarked Birmingham and marked S&L in oval (Suckling LTD) and Swaine & Adeney Made in England. Letter "M" for 1936. An incredible table accessory consisting of a horse and buggy and buckets to be filled with sugar packs, equal, stamps, paper clips, whatever !!! German hand carved Black Forest caricature horse brush butler. Circa late 1800's. Has two big original glass eye insets and bakelite or horn teeth. Ears come out, hole for easy hanging. Comes with old clothes brush on top...ironically looks like horse hair, and two newer shoe polishing cloths. Fantastic victorian-era French embossed snuff box. Crafted from celluloid or tortoise material, this dimensional box is in the shape of a horse shoe with jockey image on the top. Interior of box has a cast silver metal horse and rider insignia. Reads: HD Paris Depose (Made in Paris. Hinged box with spring-push button closure. Slight warp to the shape. But very minimal. Rare Royal Bayreuth stirrup shaped dish with the elk (moose)and hunting dogs scene. Beautifully constructed with the stirrup strap and buckle draped around the perimeter. The detail is extraordinary ( even has the treads in the stirrup). Marked with the Blue Crest mark Royal Bayreuth Bavaria. Circa 1870-1914. Measures 6" by 3.5". Hand painted. In excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or crazing. Great color. Great Piece!
