| Circa 1910-1920 British Hunting Silk Hat with Leather Box and Original Bottle of Cleaner and its mailing box. Custom leather box, lined with burgundy velvet, measures 13' by 12" by 8" with brass fittings and original key. Locking device works and all straps and closures intact. Some superficial nicks to the leather and roughness to leather around handle. Some neatsfoot oil would cover in these nicks. The silk top hat, made for the hunts, is black with inside diameter of 7.5 and 6.5". General good condition with one nick on outside and some rubs to the silk. Also enclosed inside the box is an original bottle one quarter full with silk hunting hat cleaner with directions for use typed out on parchment paper. Box reads From Herbert Johnson Hatter 38 Bond St London. The box has its original packing paper. The bottle also has its original label identifying the solution as "Hunting Silk Hat Polish". Box with bottle measures 7" long. An outstanding display and conversation piece. A perfect vignette for the equestrian enthusiast. | |||||||||||||||
