This beautifull genuine 19th C. study of a running fox is 4.75" long and 1" high.it has no screw holes under the feet so it was made as is and not part of anything , the paint condition is original and in excellent condition and there have been no repairs , underneath is the impressed word 'GESCHUTZT', which means patent or pending, if the words austria or vienna do not appear following the word then it dates from pre 1883,as is the case with this fox.

The Bergman foundry, under the leadership of Franz Bergman, was renowned for its production of miniature bronze groups, animals, birds and other collectable bronze items which were cold painted after casting and often excelled in detail and originality.
