The Surrealist artists of the early 20th century wanted to evade the shackles of conventional thought. This watch is adapted from one of the foremost paintings from this period, “Persistence of Memory”, by Salvador Dali (1931). Based on Dali’s childhood memory of visiting a doctor who asked to see his tongue, the melted watch is a play on the French words "montrer" (to show) and "langue" (tongue) which Dali interpreted as "montre" (watch) and "langueur" (languish). Licensed reproduction, stamped with Dali’s signature on the back, 18kt gold plating, tan leather strap, stainless steel back, Roman numerals, 1-year warranty.mens size, 1.25"W x 2"H.
