Title: "The Feisty Fox"
Fine Watercolour of an old fox in winter with a vignette to lower left hand corner. Signed with Initials, Mounted, Framed and Glazed, Measures with frame 16 1/2 inches x 14 inches approx.
Jonathan Walker - British Contemporary Sporting Artist
Walker was born in 1966 and raised near the market town of Leek in the heart of the Staffordshire Moorlands. He spent much of his childhood exploring the countryside in the company of this father, Keith, a competent painter himself. In 1991 he had the good taste to move to Devon!
The inspiration of Exmoor, Dartmoor and the countryside around Exeter has given new impetus to his interest in depicting the badgers, foxes and voles that his naturalist's eye observes everywhere. His animals are always rooted in the soil, as much a part of the landscape as the sky and the trees. He rare ability to give to each of them their unique characteristics and personas, while dressing them up in old cast off human garments never robs them of their intrinsic "animalness". Although rooted in the heritage of English illustration it is Jonathan's unerring draughtsman ship and his humour that nevertheless makes his work unmistakably contemporary.

Naughty Dogs of Paris Series
Title:
Eternal Enemies
Original Boris O' Klein circa 1930 hand-colored etching, signed in pencil to lower right hand side and title lower left hand side, showing a group of dogs cought in Mid Pee by a load of naughty cats who are pissing on them from the top of the wall!!
Measures 19" x 8 1/2" Unframed in Very Good condition
O'Klein produced a series of caricature scenes which typically featured Dogs and/or Cats, with the typical theme being tame sexual friction between Male and Female Dogs, or Cats humorously tormenting Dogs who are trying to relieve themselves. In once scene a smirking cat sits high on a wall after having "fenced in" the local Dogs' favourite watering tree while a series of Dogs grimace in frustration. In another scene a Cat high on a wall torments a series of Dogs of different breeds as they relieve themselves against a wall while standing on their hind legs, pre 1920 work tends to be less risqué, this piece would date to circa 1930.
