Museum quality Bronze medal by Alexandre Morlon (Listed) Bronze plaquette. Measures 2 3/4" x 2 1/2" approx
Extremely fine showing the face of an Egyptian style lady in a typically Art Deco headdress, from behind shoot jagged arrows with berries and leaves. words read: "A Henry Abraham Professeur a la Sorbonne.
L'ecole Normale Supereiure ses Amis, ses Eleves 1938"
the reverse is the image of Henry Abraham and Morton signature, in wonderfully unblemished original condition. Signed to side "Bronze"
Taken from The Dictionary of Sculpters in Bronze by James Mackey "Alexandre Morlon born 1878 in Macon France. He studied under Falguiere and Mercie and Exhibited at the Salon in 1900. He specialised in allegorical figures and is famous for the standing figure of Victory used for the Allied Victory medal (1918). He modelled pieces used for coinage, medals and war memorials. Examples of his work can be found in the Mint Museum, Paris and the Ghent museum."
