This is a complete set of 7 Chinese export rose medallion sweet meat or relish dishes fitting in a circle and with the original lacquer box. Nice thick enamels and hand painted scenes with nice detail. The dishes fit inside a lacquer box. Two figures are painted in gold on the box top, and there is also gold writing with store name in the City of Canton. William A Russell commissioned a very large rose medallion dinner service in the mid 1800s. They have the stylized American armorial "WAR" like this charming rose medallion leaf dish. Scene in the medallion shows two Chinese boys playing a board game similar to GO. No marks on the bottom. Nice orange peel surface and some sand grits on the edge. About 7 1/3 by 5 1/3 inches. A fine 19th century Chinese export canton finialed cover for a rectangular veggie. Well painted water scene and good porcelain. Big pinneaple finial. About 8.3 by 7.2 inches with cut corners. Very good condition with no chips or hairlines. (Can see kiln imperfections and black sand grit) Sorry this is just the cover, but then I've looked for ones in the past and it is a joy to find when you need it.

A pair of rose canton plates decorated by unusual peacocks in a garden. Very well painted with lots of detail. Nice ring. Small mark of "China" in a triangle. Circa 1910. About 7.5" diameter. This is one of those fantastic forms we all love in antique Chinese export ware... a Nanking gravy boat with looped handles and wavy rim plus a conforming liner. The handles and the rim give the appearance of flying. This early 18th century export blue and white is made of fine clay and has that prized saphire blue. The painting details are very fine. It also has a scalloped rim. Nice saphire blue. No marks on the glazed bottom. 8.5 by 6.4 inches. Very good condition with no chips or hairlines, some kiln grit you see in the pictures, not damage. Beautiful old blue.
