A fine Nabeshima blue and white plate or charger with a large peacock displaying on a scholar rock. High footrim and designs typical of Nabeshima. Unusual size. Fine porcelain biscuit and excellent color. 12" diameter, 3 3/8" high to rim. Very good condition, 2 short and shallow glaze hairlines at rim. One sand grain from kiln on the beak. Fine and smooth white porcelain biscuit.

An antique Japanese satsuma tazza (compote) of rare and vigorous form. It has a scalloped bowl rather like chrysanthemum petals. The broad pedestal is pierced. It was hand thrown and slightly asymmetrical, having its own aethestic appeal. The Japanese appreciated asymmetry. No marks. An elegant pair of slender satsuma vases with beautifully delineated and executed designs. The overall theme is the profuse hundred petal cherry blossoms of spring with plump Japanese bluebirds fluttering.
