A lovely pastel study drawing of a standing nude figure. Signed lower right Allan A Davidson (1913-1988), a listed artist who worked in Massachusetts. He was a sculptor as well as an artist who used pastel and oil, and the subject was often nudes.
Image 14" x 20"; frame 21.5 x 19.2". Picture in excellent condition; frame is very good; the gray-brown matt was very well done with outlines.

A fine framed antique 19th century ship print of the "Wellington", Captain James Liddell of Dover. This is a colored stone engraving published by Huggins in 1840, London. Framed by the previous owner in the 50s. He got a letter from Lloyd's of London dated 12th September, 1952, giving the history of the vessel which was registered in London and built in Bombay in 1800 for the route London, Bombay and Australia. Later sold for China trade to another owner.

A fine serigraph by contemporary artist Isaac Tarkay (born 1935). It is numbered and signed by the artist, and with embossed seal of publisher (partial concealed by matt), see detail. Double matted and framed. Tarkay does cafe scenes reminiscent of the 1920s Toulouse Lautrec. This one is a tad unusual with the girl reading. His women remind me of Marie Laurencin.
Frame 18 by 23". Image 12.5 by 16.5". Very good condition with no stains or tears.

This is a fine 19th century Chinese export painting on pith paper of a seated mandarin with an attendant kneeling in front. He is wearing a peacock feather hat and a civilian rank badge of a crane on his chest, as well as a dragon on his robe. Pretty high up there in rank and also of the reigning Manchu tribe. Image area is 7 1/4 by 10 1/2 inches. Picture is in pretty good condition except for a little missing enamel on the shoulder of the attendant (see close-up). A lovely charcoal study drawing on artist paper of a seated female nude figure. (The face is somewhat reminescent of a self portrait.) Signed "Bernstein" upper right in the back. This is by Theresa Bernstein (1890-2002), a listed artist who worked in Philadelphia, New York and the North Shore of Massachusetts. She was known for her bold brush strokes.

A still life painting of a bouquet of red poppies. This is a dramatic presentation of a classic subject by Nakamura. Strong confident brush strokes with impasta on the petals. Written on the back "Presented to K Tomita by the Estate of K Nakamura". He was active in the first part of the 20th century.
Image 14.5" x 21.5", in a simple black frame. Picture in very good condition with no tears or in-painting. Canvas brown with age.
