An autumn scene beautifully framed by birch trees with a 3 mast ship in the back. A typical New England scene by the 19th century New Bedford artist Louis K. Harlow (1850-1913). His paintings tend to be small. This one is unusually large. Water color and in a vintage wood frame.

A gorgeous 19th century China trade marine oil painting portrait of the 3 masted clipper ship Unity of Boston under full sail. Excellent details, including riggings and sail. Good wave action, and there is another ship on the horizon. You can see the reefing lines on the sails. She is flying the American ensign. Unsigned, most likely by a port artist in Canton or Shanghai; about 1850.

A gorgeous original acrylic painting by Michael Chiago (born 1946) of Tonoho O'odham tribe in Arizona. His subjects are the daily life and ceremonies of the Sonoran desert native traditions. These include both original and Christian practices. This is a wonderful individual dancer radiating energy.

A still life painting of a bouquet of red poppies. This is a dramatic presentation of a classic subject by Nakamura. Strong confident brush strokes with impasta on the petals. Written on the back "Presented to K Tomita by the Estate of K Nakamura". He was active in the first part of the 20th century.

This is a fine 19th century Chinese export painting on silk of a seated noble lady with her attendant carrying a teapot. Her head gear has many jade and ruby beads, and her sleeves are adorned with dragons. She was of the reigning Manchu tribe, and married to a senior official. Image area is 7 1/2 by 10 1/2 inches. Picture is in pretty good condition except for a narrow tear 1/3 of the way from the left margin on top (see picture).
