An exquisite 19th century enamel on porcelain miniature portrait fashioned as a locket pendant. ----- The image is a lovely young girl wearing a ruby studded tiara. She is Princess Louise (1804-1844) of Bourbon-Sicily a celebrated beauty of the time and a favorite subject of court artists. --- The picture is HAND PAINTED.--- Beautifully done with outstanding detail. The gold locket frame doesn't tarnish. The back is crystal so that your picture or momento can be inserted and seen. (The old blue cloth was probably there as a separator.) Back can be detached with care easily and snaps in securely.
1.5" x 2" very good condition with no damage to the image or porcelain. Porcelain miniatures are relatively rare. This is an exceptionally lovely one as a locket. A fine victorian period jewelry or accessory. |
