18-9th c Chinese 9 piece Canton Sweet Relish Set

A set of fine antique Chinese blue and white nanking or canton fitted relish or sweet meat set. There are 8 leaves (individual dishes) to align with a center dish of 8 sides. Nice barbed point detail on rims. Very fine quality porcelain and detailed water scene drawings under the glaze. Wonderful little figures fishing by the water. No marks. The set dates to early 19th century or late 18th when the nanking and canton designs were not yet fully standardized. This could also be a set for domestic Chinese use.

About 15" diameter assembled set. Very good condition with no chips or cracks. Only few slight roughage from the years. Sets are hard to find now! Note: While these sets were often associated with export ware, it was also a Chinese form, and the design on this set is also to the Chinese taste.
