A Qing Kangxi imperial mark and of the period (17-18th century) brush washer or waterpot (water pot) with blue and white stylized lotus design and of classic shape. 6 character Kangxi imperial mark.
3 3/4" widest, 2 1/4" high. Fine condition, few pin prick glaze faults from kiln, no chips cracks or hairlines. Old Sotheby's tag intact. An excellent fitted box is included. Notes: Provenance: Sothebys Hongkong Oct 1991 sale. Small scholar's objects such as this one from the Kangxi and Yongzheng reigns are particularly sought after by collectors. Be sure to see my Yongzheng lanca script brush washer and Qianlong Tibetan script tazza also listed now. A celadon globular brush wash of slighly larger size is Lot# 520 of Sothey's May 2000 sales. For scholar desk objects, the smaller is often the more desirable.
