Aside for the overall quality and frequent uniqueness of the artifacts and relics from the Dr. Allen Heflin collection, it’s difficult not to to rank its next most important feature as the extreme care practiced by Heflin in documenting the provenance of almost every one of his approximately 10,000 treasured items. Not all of them were large, or impressive, or complete, or of museum quality, but many were simply the fragments and parts from ritually broken offerings to ancient gods, or pieces re ...click for details

The late Lynn Langdon found the three Pre-Columbian ceramics in this lot (LLL567-677-687) in West Mexico in the mid-20th century. Intact and in overall very good to excellent condition with a couple of small rim chips to 677 and 687, the incised teardrop censer is 3 ½” tall, the polychrome jar 4 ¾” tall, and the bichrome bowl 4 ¾” wide. Langdon assigned the pieces to the Jalisco and Nayarit groups dating them c.300BC-600AD. The price shown buys all three of the pottery pieces together. The three ...click for details

Measuring 2 3/4" long from the tip of its tail to the end of its slender beak, this stunning golden relic (EB.1005) of the ancient Pre-Columbian Sinu horizon of Colombia faithfully depicts the always popular hummingbird, an image noted in many examples of worldwide prehistoric art. In excellent condition, this relic once decorated the end of a hand-held wand that was perhaps ritually used by either a shaman or a tribal leader. Dating c.400-1600AD, the bird was made using the 'cire perdu ...click for details

$500.00

This woven textile is well over 60” in length, and must have been used as a sash. Measuring 7 ½” in width at its colorful center where a 9” wide panel of birds can be seen, the textile (100.255APHD) is in overall fairly good condition, except for the two colored textile ends. The colored end panel on the right in the photo, only in fair condition, appears to have been added as an ancient repair, as the size of the panel is smaller and its pattern different from that of the one on the left, which ...click for details

$45,000.00

It’s not often that a Precolumbian gold piece can be dated with science...but this superb gold crocodile (TF98.70) lent itself to that approach. Sent to Stoetzer, Inc., of Miami for authentication (check out their site at stoetzerinc.com), this stunning beauty was quickly determined to contain its original clay core. A sample of that clay was extracted from the inside the crocodile through a slightly widened hole in one of its legs and then submitted to the Kotalla laboratory in Germany for ther ...click for details

$3800.00

The late Gene Lang of Denver, Colorado purchased this 9 7/8” wide prehistoric Indian bowl (GL595) from the Chris Robinson collection (I believe Gene told me that Robinson starred in one of the TV soaps). The bowl has been typed as a Mimbres Black-on-White dating c.975-1150AD and is attributed to the Mogollon cultural horizon. It has been glued together and has minor abrasion restoration. The design in the bottom of the bowl is rather like a spinning square with jagged bolts trailing off the side ...click for details
