Each of the twelve individually priced prehistoric Indian artifacts in this group (AXH66.4, 5, 8, 10, 13, 21, 25, 26, 34, 36, 41, and 44) were once attached to a frame with Elmer’s glue that had been assembled from finds in Louisiana made by the late Dr. Allen Heflin. Included in the group are what I believe to be the following point types: Boggy River Type II, Burkett, Evans, Gary, Marcos, Midland, and Savannah River. Heflin marked all of the points on one side in black ink with the provenance, ...click for details

This group of six stone artifacts (PJH1-6) is being sold as a lot. From the international collection of Dr. Peter Hilton, the selection represents a variety of stone and type. From the early days of Peter’s collecting, he did not at that time keep detailed records concerning provenance or type of each of the pieces. The descriptions (without specific provenance in most cases) are thus my best guesses based upon rock type and morphology. The exception is the Pre-Dynastic blade from Egypt (PHJ20), ...click for details

$4800.00

This 10 ¾” wide Mimbres Black-on-White bowl (GLC537A) is from the estate of the late Gene Lang of Denver. With a fully painted interior, the bold quadrant design is centered with a small, checkered rectangle bounded by a four-sided, star-like design from which the pronounced stair step elements emerge. Originally from the Robert Anderson collection, Mason City, Iowa, this great bowl has been glued together, the cracks filled and painted, and had a minimal amount of restoration done for a few mis ...click for details

$2750.00

Though exhibiting a strong ‘polychrome’ appearance, this handsome, 7 ¼” tall, geometrically designed prehistoric Native American pot (RLK5) started off as a Mimbres black-on-white canteen dating c.975-1150AD, but when introduced into the ancient firing kiln, the black mineral paint oxidized resulting in the attractive brownish red variegations that appear in the contrasting black field. Competently restored after being found in the mid-20th century in the Mogollon sub-group area of the southwes ...click for details

Dating c.1900, this 7 ½” wide southern California Mission basket (BB71) is in overall good condition with some minor weft loss and fairly heavy fading of its still visible but once dark geometric design. Woven on bundled coil, the sturdy basket grades at about a 7. Although glued together and with approximately 25% restoration, this slightly elliptical, 8 ½” wide prehistoric Indian bowl (TEH64) still displays nicely. The late Chester Howard acquired this old Northern Plains elkhorn flesher (TEH104) in Montana in the 1950s. Measuring 13 ½” in length, and in excellent condition but for the missing metal wedge that actually scraped the hides, the handle end of this important tool is covered with sinew sewn hide that is still in good, though worn condition. $850.00

A wide 14” in diameter, and relatively deep 5” make this bowl (GL544) pretty tough to put on a narrow shelf! From the collection of the late Gene Lang of Denver, he typed the bowl as a Gila Redware dating c.1300-1350+ and attributed it to the Salado group. Lang also did the restoration on this large piece, gluing it together and filling in and then painting the cracks. The interior of the bowl is burnished black (commonly called ‘smudged’). Without specific provenance, but originally from Arizon ...click for details
