THE HEIRS OF THE BILLY BRANCH COLLECTION ARE NOW INVITING OFFERS!!!

With the imminent distribution of proceeds from the sales of items in the Billy Branch estate, the heirs
are inviting offers. Though already heavily discounted, the family has asked that I note its willingness to
consider any offer for a listed item in the Branch collection: Pre-Columbian art pottery; unique Native American
pawn pieces; Chinese zoomorphic cloisonnee forms; and a variety of other special collectibles. Bill had a good
eye, and this opportunity to purchase a fine piece at your price is seldom seen. To see all items in the Branch
collection, simply type the letters 'BB' into the search link on any page and all of Bill's listings will come up.

AND ANOTHER! Type the single word OFFER into the search box for additional great buy opportunities!

$2900.00

This remarkable prehistoric Native American black-on-white ‘bowl in a bowl’ (JBB7) was restored by the late Gene Lang of Denver and, in the opinion of some, is one of the finest examples of his restoration skill. Typed and dated by Gene as a Tularosa Black-on-White Olla (or as Gene referred to it, a “Jar in a Seed Bowl”), c.1000-1250AD from the Anasazi group, he obtained it in the later part of the 20th century from an old Denver collection with the information that it had been originally found ...click for details

Each of the twelve individually priced prehistoric Indian artifacts in this group (AXH66.4, 5, 8, 10, 13, 21, 25, 26, 34, 36, 41, and 44) were once attached to a frame with Elmer’s glue that had been assembled from finds in Louisiana made by the late Dr. Allen Heflin. Included in the group are what I believe to be the following point types: Boggy River Type II, Burkett, Evans, Gary, Marcos, Midland, and Savannah River. Heflin marked all of the points on one side in black ink with the provenance, ...click for details

$4500.00

Doesn’t the squared dumbbell-like design framed in black in the center of this bowl (GLC506) look like a scowling face? Identified as a Tularosa Black-on-White dating c.1100-1250AD, this type is sometimes thrown into the Anasazi Group, sometimes the Mogollon. Glued together with only minimal restoration (just touched up along the cracks), the bowl measures just a little over 10 ¾” in diameter. Restored by and from the personal collection of the late Gene Lang of Denver, this superb example of so ...click for details

$750.00

The late Chester Howard acquired this old Northern Plains elkhorn flesher (TEH104) in Montana in the 1950s. Measuring 13 ½” in length, and in excellent condition but for the missing metal wedge that actually scraped the hides, the handle end of this important tool is covered with sinew sewn hide that is still in good, though worn condition. Two heavy broad-headed iron nails are driven into the core of the horn at the front of the flesher where it bends, the purpose for which is not known but the ...click for details

$4750.00

The serrated edges along the rounded portions at the ends of the central design probably represent bird wings or feathers. Identified as a Mimbres Black-on-White bowl dating c.975-1150AD, and attributed to the Mogollon cultural horizon, the bowl (GLC538A) has been glued together with minor restoration (less than 5%). There is a small amount of reddish oxidation along the upper rim on the inside of part of the bowl that occurred during the original firing. From the estate of the late Gene Lang of ...click for details

$850.00

A wide 14” in diameter, and relatively deep 5” make this bowl (GL544) pretty tough to put on a narrow shelf! From the collection of the late Gene Lang of Denver, he typed the bowl as a Gila Redware dating c.1300-1350+ and attributed it to the Salado group. Lang also did the restoration on this large piece, gluing it together and filling in and then painting the cracks. The interior of the bowl is burnished black (commonly called ‘smudged’). Without specific provenance, but originally from Arizon ...click for details

The twelve points in this group (TEH.F69.1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12 and 14), each individually photographed and priced, are all from an artifact frame marked ‘Colorado’ that was part of the collection of the late Chester Howard, founder of the Colorado Mineral Society and co-founder of the Rocky Mountain Federation of Mineralogical Societies with Richard Pearl, well-known professor of geology and author of numerous books about rocks and minerals. This group of twelve individually priced prehistoric Indian pots (JHL5, 24, 25, 29, 46, 54, 55, 56, 62, 66, 67 and 69) are all from the estate of the late Gene Lang of Denver. Believed to be from the Williams Ranch collection, south of Quemado, New Mexico, Lang purchased the pots to restore them but was not able to complete the job. Most have been simply glued together with little restoration, and are usually missing a few shards. Each photo is noted first with the Inventory Number of the item i ...click for details

$2500.00

The zoomorphic handle (a dog head?) on this interesting prehistoric Indian pitcher (GL582) is original and intact. From the collection of the late Gene Lang of Denver, Colorado, he typed the piece as a Wingate Polychrome dating c.1125-1200AD from the Anasazi cultural group. Measuring 6 ½” in width, a rim ‘kill’ and some surface abrasion was restored by Lang. There is some light stress cracking on the bottom of the jar. This group of individually priced Indian artifacts (KJH2, 3, 14, 35, 36, 39, 73, 79, 82 and 84) are all but one from the Great Basin area in the western U.S. The single Illinois point, a Raddatz, is from Ken’s personal collection, while the various obsidian points are from an old collection put together by one D. A. Hunter. Hunter found the points in the Lakes area of Oregon, with the series starting with KJH 2 and ending with KJH 39 all being from Crump Lake.
