$225.00

This group of six stone artifacts (PJH1-6) is being sold as a lot. From the international collection of Dr. Peter Hilton, the selection represents a variety of stone and type. From the early days of Peter’s collecting, he did not at that time keep detailed records concerning provenance or type of each of the pieces. The descriptions (without specific provenance in most cases) are thus my best guesses based upon rock type and morphology. The exception is the Pre-Dynastic blade from Egypt (PHJ20), ...click for details

Mostly dating from the Paleo to the Late Archaic, the stone artifacts include atlatl points, knives, preforms, and a few drills and scrapers. $1800.00

This intact prehistoric Indian bowl (CMK109) is from the Mike Kastner collection, late owner and operator of the Primitive Folk Art Laboratory in Denver. In overall good condition with a few minor rim chips and light bottom abrasion, the slightly ovate bowl is 8” across at its widest. The paint (all original) is in overall fairly good condition with a single 1 ½” x 3” of moderately heavy paint loss in one quadrant near the bottom of the bowl. Identified as a Homolovi Polychrome from the Anasazi ...click for details

$6000.00

An extraordinary 13” wide Mimbres Black-on-White bowl (GLC354) dating c.975-1150AD from the Mogollon cultural horizon, the pattern of which, when examined carefully, represents a four-cornered star within a larger four-cornered star. Glued together with restoration primarily in the white bottom area, this stunning prehistoric Indian bowl is from the estate of the late Gene Lang of Denver. Gene…artist, pot historian, and conservator…also did the restoration on this piece. The typical Mimbres ‘kil ...click for details

Each of the twelve individually priced prehistoric Indian artifacts in this group (AXH66.4, 5, 8, 10, 13, 21, 25, 26, 34, 36, 41, and 44) were once attached to a frame with Elmer’s glue that had been assembled from finds in Louisiana made by the late Dr. Allen Heflin. Included in the group are what I believe to be the following point types: Boggy River Type II, Burkett, Evans, Gary, Marcos, Midland, and Savannah River. Heflin marked all of the points on one side in black ink with the provenance, ...click for details

$450.00

Found north of Cuba, New Mexico in 1961, this 5” long prehistoric Indian bird jar (TEH63) is from the estate of the late Chester Howard, founder of the Colorado Mineral Society. Without restoration, the jar has minor spalling, a chipped left wing, is heavily fire clouded, and may be missing a piece along the mouth of the jar that represented a small ‘beak’. Identified as an Alma Plain type, the jar dates c.300-925AD and is attributed to the Mogollon subgroup. An interesting little effigy piece, ...click for details

Believed to be from the Williams Ranch collection, south of Quemado, New Mexico, Lang purchased the pots to restore them but was not able to complete the job. $2900.00

This remarkable prehistoric Native American black-on-white ‘bowl in a bowl’ (JBB7) was restored by the late Gene Lang of Denver and, in the opinion of some, is one of the finest examples of his restoration skill. Typed and dated by Gene as a Tularosa Black-on-White Olla (or as Gene referred to it, a “Jar in a Seed Bowl”), c.1000-1250AD from the Anasazi group, he obtained it in the later part of the 20th century from an old Denver collection with the information that it had been originally found ...click for details
