$2500.00

The zoomorphic handle (a dog head?) on this interesting prehistoric Indian pitcher (GL582) is original and intact. From the collection of the late Gene Lang of Denver, Colorado, he typed the piece as a Wingate Polychrome dating c.1125-1200AD from the Anasazi cultural group. Measuring 6 ½” in width, a rim ‘kill’ and some surface abrasion was restored by Lang. There is some light stress cracking on the bottom of the jar. Without specific provenance, but from the Four Corners area, this colorful pi ...click for details

$1500.00

This matched pair of brain-tanned beaded cuffs (TEH.F29.2) was removed from a decorative frame put together by the late Chester Howard. Dating from the 1880-1900 period, the beadwork, though somewhat stained from use, is in excellent condition. The gauntlets from which the cuffs were salvaged were undoubtedly worn out from use, and the gloves subsequently trimmed carefully from the cuffs. The cuffs measure 7 ¼” in length and 7 ¼” across their widest part (not counting the fringe). The bold geome ...click for details

$2750.00

Though exhibiting a strong ‘polychrome’ appearance, this handsome, 7 ¼” tall, geometrically designed prehistoric Native American pot (RLK5) started off as a Mimbres black-on-white canteen dating c.975-1150AD, but when introduced into the ancient firing kiln, the black mineral paint oxidized resulting in the attractive brownish red variegations that appear in the contrasting black field. Competently restored after being found in the mid-20th century in the Mogollon sub-group area of the southwes ...click for details

A wide 14” in diameter, and relatively deep 5” make this bowl (GL544) pretty tough to put on a narrow shelf! From the collection of the late Gene Lang of Denver, he typed the bowl as a Gila Redware dating c.1300-1350+ and attributed it to the Salado group. Lang also did the restoration on this large piece, gluing it together and filling in and then painting the cracks. The interior of the bowl is burnished black (commonly called ‘smudged’).
