THE HEIRS OF THE BILLY BRANCH COLLECTION ARE NOW INVITING OFFERS!!!

With the imminent distribution of proceeds from the sales of items in the Billy Branch estate, the heirs
are inviting offers. Though already heavily discounted, the family has asked that I note its willingness to
consider any offer for a listed item in the Branch collection: Pre-Columbian art pottery; unique Native American
pawn pieces; Chinese zoomorphic cloisonnee forms; and a variety of other special collectibles. Bill had a good
eye, and this opportunity to purchase a fine piece at your price is seldom seen. To see all items in the Branch
collection, simply type the letters 'BB' into the search link on any page and all of Bill's listings will come up.

$4750.00

From the collection of the late Lynn Langdon, and acquired in the mid-20th century, this 11 ½” long, two-colored, Pre-Classic standing dog vessel (LLL463) is attributed to the Colima horizon of West Mexico dating c.200BC-300AD. In overall very good condition and coated with patchy remnants of caliche and mud, x-ray indicates minor restoration and some gluing of pieces on the back along with some stabilized stress cracking. The dog’s bulging sides, its tail, and the head are colored a slightly de ...click for details

Standing on three hollow rattle legs, this 8 ¾” wide Precolumbian grater bowl (LLL647) was found in two pieces in West Mexico in the mid-20th century by the late Lynn Langdon who glued it together along the almost straight break. With an attractive geometric polychrome design, the grater bowl is attributed to the Post Classic Tarascan horizon dating c.1000-1500AD. The bowl comes with a small display card, a biographical sketch about Langdon, a map of Mexico with the Tarascan area highlighted, an ...click for details

$11,000.00

The scene of a woman sitting is a breezeway between two ‘cabins’ (RFM42) surrounded by her three pets doesn’t differ significantly from what one might experience in some remote area of Mexico today. Attributed to the Nayarit of West Mexico, this Ixtlan del Rio styled Protoclassic model dates c.100BC-250AD. In overall very good condition, the 6 ½” long plaza is raised on four tapered feet and still retains traces of red and white paint. The largest of the three pups is missing its tail, and there ...click for details

Measuring 9 ½” in height, this colorful cylindrical vessel (RFM51) has a constriction at its center that made it handy for use as a drinking goblet or cup. Decorated with four sets of doubly stacked and uninterpreted glyphs, the vessel is attributed to the Mixtec, Cholula style, dating c.1200-1500AD. In overall good condition with minor restoration of two small rim chips and a repaired 3” base crack, a 1 ¼” hairline stress crack at the bottom has also been strengthened with soluble glue. $500.00

This woven textile is well over 60” in length, and must have been used as a sash. Measuring 7 ½” in width at its colorful center where a 9” wide panel of birds can be seen, the textile (100.255APHD) is in overall fairly good condition, except for the two colored textile ends. The colored end panel on the right in the photo, only in fair condition, appears to have been added as an ancient repair, as the size of the panel is smaller and its pattern different from that of the one on the left, which ...click for details

Found in the Tikal area of Guatemala many decades ago, the heavily potted vessel is in good condition with no restoration and moderate pinpoint flecking to the red slip. The three larger obsidian blades shown in this group (MAP155, 156 and 157) were all found in West Mexico in the mid-20th century by the late Lynn Langdon. Previously sold to another collector, they have now come back to HD Enterprises as the present owner sells off his collection. These are some of the nicer blades from Lynn’s old collection, and one of them presents somewhat of a mystery. It has the shape of the Great Basin’s paleo Cougar Mountain blade, as well as the ground stem. Sent to note ...click for details

$250.00

This 6” tall, rather professorial looking and well-attired gent (PES23), complete with breechclout, turban, and shawl over shoulder, stands with a slight smile on his face obviously caused by the pleasure he feels in showing off the small dog carried in the crook of his right arm. In spite of the left leg being glued on, a chip on the back of his right foot, and the bottom of the pup long since missing, the figure still displays well, but will need some support to stand alone.
