10 ½” in height and modeled in the round, this stone carving (AXH1462) was found in Vera Cruz and was attributed by its finder, the late Dr. Allen Heflin, to the Huasteca dating c.900-1300AD. With somewhat muted features, resulting both from the fashion in which it was made and from subsequent weathering, the crested head may be a representation of the ever-popular wind god. Made from indurated, iron-stained volcaniclastic material, it is in overall very good condition with no significant damage ...click for details
