This small bi-colored figurine (CH1024), sometimes called a ‘cochimilco’, is from the collection of the late Carrol Howe, well-known amateur archaeologist from Klamath Falls, Oregon, whose interests in ancient cultures ranged far beyond his beloved lands of the ancient Modoc and Klamath Indians. This crudely molded and rather primitively painted 3” tall figure is attributed to the Chancay horizon of Peru, c.1100-1400AD. In excellent condition without restoration of any type, the little guy, bede ...click for details

The twelve ceramic pieces illustrated in this group of twelve (RDM 6, 10-13, 15-19, 29 and 46) are among the best from the old Barney Mallonee collection. Mostly Bolivian in origin and related to the Tiwanaku horizon, Barney brought these pots into the U.S. shortly before the end of WW I. Ranging in quality from 5 to 8, based upon 10 being at the top (and that is a true rarity in the Pre-Columbian art world), the bold coloring and imagery (figural, geometric, avian, zoomorphic, and anthropomorph ...click for details

This impressive red-ware gourd olla (LLL470) measures 13” in diameter and is attributed to the Pre-Classic Colima horizon of West Mexico dating c.200BC-300AD. The olla’s shelf-like shoulder supports four three-dimensional, life-sized turtles. From the estate of the late Lynn Langdon, he acquired the olla in West Mexico in the mid-20th century. Here’s another extraordinary Aztec pipe (AXH92) from the estate of the late Dr. Allen Heflin. Collected at the site of Cuautitlan, Mexico in 1961 (and characteristically marked by Heflin with that information in black ink on the base of its highly burnished redware stem), the bichrome pipe has been glued in two places and shows signs of ancient tip wear from the tightly clenched teeth of the Aztec warrior who smoked it. The strikingly decorated bowl of the pipe is adorned with a multi-feathered ...click for details
