This small bi-colored figurine (CH1024), sometimes called a ‘cochimilco’, is from the collection of the late Carrol Howe, well-known amateur archaeologist from Klamath Falls, Oregon, whose interests in ancient cultures ranged far beyond his beloved lands of the ancient Modoc and Klamath Indians. This crudely molded and rather primitively painted 3” tall figure is attributed to the Chancay horizon of Peru, c.1100-1400AD. About 6” in height, this Precolumbian figural stirrup jar (TF99.57) is attributed to the Moche horizon of Peru, c.100-800AD. In overall very good condition, there is some chipping around the mouth of the narrow spout, and there’s a small, spider-web ‘push’ on the back of the jar that appears to have resulted from a probe that penetrated the left side just below the figure (two small holes, one on the front upper left corner of the throne, and the other just around to the side, have been repaired ...click for details
