$250.00

This 6” tall, rather professorial looking and well-attired gent (PES23), complete with breechclout, turban, and shawl over shoulder, stands with a slight smile on his face obviously caused by the pleasure he feels in showing off the small dog carried in the crook of his right arm. In spite of the left leg being glued on, a chip on the back of his right foot, and the bottom of the pup long since missing, the figure still displays well, but will need some support to stand alone. From the estate of ...click for details

This mesmerizing group of twelve little naked ladies (LLL 428, 818, 836, 837, 850, 852, 854, 934, 937, 951, 989 and 998) was assembled from finds made by the late Lynn Langdon in the mid-20th century during his annual trips to West Mexico. Never before displayed with such unabashed candor, you’ll love the poses, the characters, and the condition. Each is separately illustrated and priced. Each carries my subjective numerical grade at the end of the heading, based not only on condition, but aesth ...click for details

$4500.00

This 12” tall ‘smiling face’ figural whistle (TEH.F50.4) is attributed to the Veracruz horizon along the Gulf Coast area of Mexico dating into the Late Classic Period, c.550-950AD. The hollow figure, with outstretched arms and filed teeth, wears a necklace of four large disk beads with a cone-shaped center piece that may not be original to the image, or if so, was not very well centered when re-attached (it too has been glued in place). At the top edge of his headdress is the whistle hole (the w ...click for details

This spectacular large eagle pendant (95.225 HD) is attributed to the Veraguas horizon in Panama. The 100+ gram lost wax casting dates c.500-1100AD. The eagle (most likely worn by a powerful chieftain or shaman) measures an impressive 5 ¾” from wing tip to tip. The gold has been analyzed and tests approximately 14k. As was done to much of the Precolumbian alloyed gold, this piece was enriched at the surface in ancient days by the ‘depletion gilding technique’. This great display piece was broken ...click for details

Aside for the overall quality and frequent uniqueness of the artifacts and relics from the Dr. Allen Heflin collection, it’s difficult not to to rank its next most important feature as the extreme care practiced by Heflin in documenting the provenance of almost every one of his approximately 10,000 treasured items. Not all of them were large, or impressive, or complete, or of museum quality, and many were simply the fragments and parts from ritually broken offerings to ancient gods, or pieces re ...click for details

$7500.00

This 18 ¾” tall seated nude male figure (PES26) has the image and powerful stature of an athlete ready for the contest. With hands placed firmly on his knees, and an intense focused stare directed at his opponent, I almost expect to see him suddenly come out of his seated stance in an explosive launch! Attributed to the Jalisco horizon of West Mexico, dating c.300BC-300AD, and perhaps the crowning piece in the collection of the late Brian Safe, this impressive figure has been glued together with ...click for details

4 5/8” tall and lightly wired around its waist to a wood stand, this solid ceramic figure (RFM38) stands with hands overlapping at its midsection and wears a belt with two tassels, an incised breechcloth, headdress, ear ornaments, and a necklace. In overall good condition, the head of the figure has suffered light damage across the nose and right cheek, and the right ear ornament is missing. $600.00

From the dry coastal desert area of Peru, this 21 ½” long, carved, figural boundary post (AK156) is attributed to the Chimu horizon dating c.1000-1400AD. The post is slotted through at two locations for the insertion of confining slats that probably joined it to another. The two carved figures (almost in the round) appear to be blowing flutes. In overall very good condition with heavily patinated and weathered surface, it is a fine example of the more rare perishable Pre-Columbian relics from th ...click for details

$1500.00

This 7 5/8” tall, very flat figure (RFM45) is attributed to the Protoclassic Nayarit of West Mexico, c.100BC-250AD. A striking figure that has been poorly glued together, it still carries traces of red, white, and pinkish pigment. The corners of its head are slightly chipped, the right arm has been glued on, and the nose has suffered some slight damage. An excellent candidate for minor restoration to bring it back to its original grandeur, one this thin and fragile rarely survives as well. From ...click for details
