The scorpion was a popular protective image in the ancient Near East. This 8mm x 6mm x 2.5mm agate ring seal (100.57ADHD) depicts the creature on its intaglio face. Found in western Afghanistan during the Russian occupation, the seal is in overall very good condition with a tiny chip just under its rim on the domed base. Circular in form with a scalloped edge, this ¾” wide, incised steatite dot seal pendant (97.287HD) is attributed to the Bactrian Empire of northern Afghanistan dating into the 2nd Millennium BC. In excellent condition, the dot image appears to represent a kneeling figure. The pendant comes with a small display card and a certificate guaranteeing authenticity.

This group of twelve individually priced ancient rings seals (100.57L, Q, AB, AH, AL, AP, AT, AV, BF, BG, BQ, and 101.AHHD) are all engraved (one is molded glass so it is impressed) in intaglio style with imagery that includes: Bull, Man, Ruler, Tamgha, Chimera, Antelope, Oryx, Centaur, a Knot, and Kufic Script).
