This 12 5/8” long, 8 ½ pound cast bronze canon (TEH119) was purchased in Morelia, Mexico in 1960 by the late Chester Howard, adventurer, collector, and founder of the Colorado Mineral Society in 1936. Believed to date back into the early 19th century colonial period, the canon has no markings and except for its bent ball handle, is in excellent condition. The relic coins in this group of twelve (93.285HD, 6.88HJ, 57.88HJ, 62.88HJ, 74.88HJ, 77.88HJ, 98.88HJ, 107.88HJ, 114.88HJ, 6.90HJ, 69.91HJ and FP1169) were mostly found by yours truly during many years of hunting the abandoned trails and ghosted towns of the west. The four, colored photo greeting cards in this lot (93.336HD) were a gift in 1993 from the late Carrol Howe, one-time legislator in the Oregon House of Representatives, and a campaign manager for Richard M.
