THE HEIRS OF THE BILLY BRANCH COLLECTION ARE NOW INVITING OFFERS!!!

With the imminent distribution of proceeds from the sales of items in the Billy Branch estate, the heirs
are inviting offers. Though already heavily discounted, the family has asked that I note its willingness to
consider any offer for a listed item in the Branch collection: Pre-Columbian art pottery; unique Native American
pawn pieces; Chinese zoomorphic cloisonnee forms; and a variety of other special collectibles. Bill had a good
eye, and this opportunity to purchase a fine piece at your price is seldom seen. To see all items in the Branch
collection, simply type the letters 'BB' into the search link on any page and all of Bill's listings will come up.

$900.00

From the estate of the late Chester Howard, this rather spectacular beaded floral strip or belt (TEH.F8.3) measures 30 ½” x 4 ½”. Dated to the mid 20th century, Howard noted that the belt was either Crow or Northern Cheyenne. Due to the initials ‘MS’ shown in cobalt beads, it is believed that the belt may either have been made under contract for a specific party, or that the initials were for the name of the Native American who made the belt. The back of the belt is canvas with a single irregula ...click for details

$2200.00

This decorative, early 20th century pipe-axe (RLK2) was purchased in March of 1988 at a shop in Ft. Collins, Colorado where a Native American named Night Walker was selling items from his personal collection, as well as those from others of the Northern Plains reservation to which he belonged in order to support needy tribal members. The axe, with an 18” long pipe stem wood handle, has an 8 7/8” long cast brass axe head stamped ‘Canada’ and a stamped arrow touch-mark pointed down towards the top ...click for details

$1200.00

This spectacular hand-carved 17” long ‘ceremonial club’ (KJH87) was purchased by Ken Hladek in March 2003 (as he recalls, it was an estate sale and the item number was 0962..."INDIAN TRADE WAR CLUB - LUKA) at a Lolli Brothers auction in Macon, Missouri. The only information that came with this lethal-looking weapon was a note that it was from the William R. Gauld collection of Elmo, Montana, a town located well within the boundaries of the Flathead Indian reservation. Many other items offer ...click for details

Here’s a fascinating enigma! This carved, 4 ¾” tall, dark greenish black steatite elbow pipe (BWO6) came to its owner as possibly Aztec in origin. In overall very good condition, even with its head glued on (along a simple break) and a number of surface scratches and bruises from repeated handling, this piece has all of the attributes of being hand-made albeit with the possible help of historical period tools. To test the theory of antiquity, the pipe was sent to Cal Howard, authenticator from S ...click for details

SORRY...THIS ITEM HAS SOLD.

This early 20th century Navajo rug (TEH4) dates into the 1920-1940 period. In overall very good condition with bold, unfaded colors, there is some minor spotting and just a hint of light fraying at the corners. Measuring 38 ½” x 83 ½”, this has been identified as the Teec Nos Pos style. A small white cloth tag sewn onto one corner reads ‘803’. This handsome rug comes with a biographical sketch about its former owner, the late Chester Howard. We’re pleased to announce that we’ll be adding ma ...click for details

$300.00

Removed from a decorative frame put together by the late Chester Howard, it is not known whether or not this beaded wrist or belt bag (TEH.F3.1) is Native American made. The faceted, inside painted beads would indicate the bag dates to the early 20th century. The inside of the bag is lined with a silk-like gray fabric. The design on the bag, with several ears of corn, seems to indicate Native American influence, but the style is not one that we recognize, thus the question. The bag is in overall ...click for details

Missing just a few beads in its broad field, this colorful Nez Perce bag (TEH.F6.1), dating into the earlier 20th century, is in overall good condition. Removed from a decorative frame where it had been mounted with glue by its late owner, Chester Howard, the hide on the back of the 5 ½” x 6 ½” bag is resultantly spotted and marked with a few patches of residual glue. One of the thin leather carrying straps has parted, and the straps are stiff from having been glued to the frame. This nicely dec ...click for details
