INDO-GREEK CARNELIAN RING SEAL WITH MALE HEAD
Measuring 8mm x 7mm x 1.5mm, this translucent carnelian ring seal (101.8ABHD) was found in northern Afghanistan during the Russian occupation and is attributed to the Indo-Greeks, c.300BC-100AD. In overall very good condition with minor edge damage, the gracefully carved intaglio Greek-styled male head can best be seen with magnification or impression in clay. The seal could be easily mounted in a contemporary silver or gold ring. The seal comes on a small display card, along with a map of Afghanistan with the general area in which the ring was found highlighted, and our certificate guaranteeing authenticity.
