TWELVE TURQUOISE AND FETISH NECKLACES: HOWARD
The twelve necklaces individually photographed and priced in this group (TEH 6-8, 11, 12, 22, 27-31, and 89) are all from the estate of the late Chester Howard, founder of the Colorado Mineral Society. All date from a period earlier than 1980, and the serpentine fetish necklaces are believed to date into the very early 20th century. Each photo includes a full shot of the necklace, with a partial close-up showing more detail. Every photo first shows the illustrated item’s inventory number in brackets, followed by a brief description, then the necklace size in inches, the type of stone when provided by Howard, the location at which the stone was quarried, any additional information about the components of the necklace, the material with which the necklace was strung, any comment about condition or manufacture, and finally the price. All of the turquoise is natural and untreated. Note that the photos come as close as possible to showing the actual colors, but due to the difficulty in capturing the subtle shades of blue and green, some of the colors might be slightly off. Turquoise types include Cripple Creek, McGinnis Big Blue, Red Mountain, Bingham Mine, and the Evans Mine in Baja California. Select or ask any question by referring first to the Trocadero Item Number on this page, and then to our Inventory Number shown on the given photograph. Each necklace purchased from this page comes with a small display card, a biographical write-up about Chester Howard, and our certificate guaranteeing authenticity. Additional items of Native American jewelry from the Howard collection are going to be added as time permits. NOTE: if you would like to view a large number of our various listings, and at the same time limit your browsing time, try our ‘TWELVE different items on a single page format’ by simply spelling out the word TWELVE in the search box. That will quickly bring up all of our listings that have twelve different items on a page, each individually priced and available! Any item that has been sold will be so noted on its photograph.
