| 4 5/8” tall and lightly wired around its waist to a wood stand, this solid ceramic figure (RFM38) stands with hands overlapping at its midsection and wears a belt with two tassels, an incised breechcloth, headdress, ear ornaments, and a necklace. In overall good condition, the head of the figure has suffered light damage across the nose and right cheek, and the right ear ornament is missing. From the collection of one of the founders of the Rocky Mountain Institute of Pre-Columbian Studies, the figure is attributed to the Colima horizon of West Mexico and dates c.300-100BC. It comes with a small display card, a map of Mexico highlighting the Colima area, and our certificate guaranteeing authenticity. Don’t forget to watch for the additional pieces that will soon be listed under the prefix RFM from this interesting and newly consigned collection.
