SEATED FIGURE VESSEL WITH HANDS TO HEAD
9” tall, this seated figure vessel (RFM41) is attributed to the Jalisco horizon of West Mexico dating c.100BC-250AD. With protruding tongue and hands to his head, this seated gent appears to be either getting over a long binge, or a good case of the flu! Although he may not be, the jug is in overall good condition with restoration to its flared rim, a missing toe, and some gluing in the base area. From the local collection of one of the founders of the old Rocky Mountain Institute of Pre-Columbian Studies, this rather whimsical jar comes with a small display card, a map of Mexico highlighting the Jalisco area, and our certificate guaranteeing authenticity. Don’t forget to watch for the additional pieces that will soon be listed under the prefix RFM from this interesting and newly consigned collection. NOTE: if you would like to view a large number of our various listings, and at the same time limit your browsing, try our ‘TWELVE different items on a single page format’ by simply spelling out the word TWELVE in the search box. That will quickly bring up all of our listings that have twelve different items on a page, each individually priced!
