| This group includes twelve previously owned, good to excellent Native American silver items, primarily buckles (TEH.F83.1, 5, 6, 10, 13, 14, 16, 19, 20, 21, 23 and 24), all from the collection of the late Chester Howard, founder of the Colorado Mineral Society in 1936. Chester started collecting prior to that date, and some of the pieces are believed to date back into that period, with all probably dating pre-1970s. Most are unsigned, and most appear to be Navajo or Zuni pawn pieces. Although the silver has not been cleaned, and an age patina shows strongly on a few, a little silver polish would do a great job in restoring the pieces to their original brilliance. Each photo is marked first with the unique inventory number of the illustrated piece, followed by a brief descripton, a notation as to the length of the piece, and if a buckle, the size of belt that the buckle can accommodate. Finally, the price for the piece appears at the bottom of its photo.
