| The twelve ceramic pieces illustrated in this group of twelve (RDM 6, 10-13, 15-19, 29 and 46) are among the best from the old Barney Mallonee collection. Mostly Bolivian in origin and related to the Tiwanaku horizon, Barney brought these pots into the U.S. shortly before the end of WW I. Ranging in quality from 5 to 8, based upon 10 being at the top (and that is a true rarity in the Pre-Columbian art world), the bold coloring and imagery (figural, geometric, avian, zoomorphic, and anthropomorphic) on a number of the pieces can’t help exciting a collector looking for an example of these rare styles. Two of the pieces are from other South American countries, one believed to be from Ecuador, and the other, an erotic Moche stirrup vessel, from Peru. All of the pottery has suffered some sort of damage or surface blemish, but every one of them is a good candidate for restoration (as mentioned on other pages, we can recommend a very reasonably priced and superb artist conservator who does incredible work). Even with prices ranging from $150-$900, you won’t be disappointed by browsing through this page. Note that those with the colorful but subdued patterns (due to a thin surface film of muddy caliche) can be easily enhanced with a short soak and light scrub in water, and can be further brightened using other easily applied techniques. Because of the lack of cleaning, the pieces of the rarely seen Tiahuanacan types are being offered at reduced prices from what they’d bring in top condition. Each photo lists first the item inventory number in brackets, a brief description of the item followed by a numerical grade based upon the 1-10 system, size, approximate date range, condition, and finally the price. A purchase comes with a small display card, a biographical sketch about Barney Mallonee, and our certificate guaranteeing authenticity. Select or ask any question by referring either to the Trocadero ITEM # or the STOCK # (RDM.F) at the top of this page, and ALSO to the item’s unique INVENTORY NUMBER as shown in the brackets on its photo. NOTE: to see all of the currently listed Mallonee collection items, just enter the letters RDM into the search box, and if you would like to view a large number of our various other listings, and at the same time limit your browsing, try our ‘TWELVE different items on a single page format’ by simply spelling out the word TWELVE in the search box. That will quickly bring up all of our listings that have twelve different items on a page, each individually priced! And if you want to further refine the group, add one or two additional modifiers at the same time such as ‘Indian, Precolumbian, Stone, Pot, Gold, etc.’ Any item that has been sold will be so noted on its photograph. | |||||||||||||||
