TWO ANASAZI SHARDS AND MAYAN GOD-JAGUAR SHARD
The three illustrated potsherds shown in the first photo are being offered as two separate ‘items’. AJC110 is a fascinating 5 ¼” fragment glued together from two pieces of an intricately embossed Mayan black-ware bowl depicting a god-like figure communicating with a spotted jaguar. This unique fragment was found in Guatemala by the late Dr. Allen Heflin and dated by him into the Classic Period c.300-900AD. It is presented in a glass-fronted collector frame and is priced at $225.00. The two fragments of prehistoric Native American pottery, AJC111, were purchased by our consigner from a well-known pottery merchant and conservator located in southwest Colorado. The black-on-white shard ‘A’ measures 4 ½” in width, while the black-on-orange or white-on-orange shard ‘B’ (depending upon which side is being examined) measures 3 ¾” in width. The two shards are also presented in a glass-fronted collector frame and are priced at $125.00 for the pair. Each of the two lots comes with a small display card and our certificate guaranteeing authenticity. Select or ask any question by referring to either the Trocadero Item Number (839816) in the upper left portion of this page, or to the individual lot’s unique Inventory Number, i.e., AJC110 or AJC111. Note: if you would like to view an even larger number of our various listings, and at the same time limit your browsing time, try our popular ‘TWELVE different items on a single page format’ by simply spelling out the word TWELVE in the search box. That will quickly bring up all of our listings that have twelve different items on a page, each individually priced! And if you want to further refine the group, add one or two additional modifiers at the same time such as ‘Indian, Precolumbian, Stone, Pot, Gold, etc.’ All items in the groups of twelve that have been sold will be so noted on their individual photographs.
