This woven textile is well over 60” in length, and must have been used as a sash. Measuring 7 ½” in width at its colorful center where a 9” wide panel of birds can be seen, the textile (100.255APHD) is in overall fairly good condition, except for the two colored textile ends. Measuring 4 5/8” in height, this stone pestle (LLL1019), made from vesicular basalt, was found in west Mexico in the mid-20th century by the late Lynn Langdon. In overall very good condition without chips or dings, the top of the pestle depicts a human head…any previous sharply defined images long since subdued from moderate weathering. This 24” long double-stranded necklace (103.53HD) is assembled from mostly Precolumbian silver beads that had to have been found at a single site! From the Trujillo area of Peru, the interesting necklace is 24” in length and attributed to the Chimu horizon, c.1000-1400AD. In addition to very small and intermediately sized hollow round beads, there are four ½” square hollow silver spacer beads. This impressive polychrome figure (RFM43) is of the West Mexican Nayarit San Sebastian style dating 100BC-250AD. Representing a seated warrior holding a club in both hands, head turned to the right, wearing a bell-shaped and crested hat, a multi-stranded necklace, and what is probably meant to represent a protective vest, the 9 ¼” tall hollow figure is in overall very good condition without any noted repair or restoration, but has suffered moderate pigment loss. This massive, 18” tall male figurine (BB14) rests a large ball against his right shoulder while holding it in his cupped right hand. Intently staring ahead in preparation to throw the ball, he is decorated with elaborate ear ornaments, a nose ring, and a band around his neck representing a necklace. This disk shaped, embossed, bluish green faience amulet (96.1047HD) has the image of Bes on one side and the Eye of Horus on the other. Measuring ¾” in diameter and 1/8” in thickness, the molded amulet, in overall very good condition and wearable, has a small dark casting flaw on its edge. The amulet dates into the Graeco-Roman Period, c.332BC-395AD. It comes with a small display card and a guarantee of authenticity.
