All of the beads and pendants in this group of twelve (LLL729, 731R1N1, 754A, 840B, 841A, 924, 931A, 963, 1141, 1207A, 1208C, and 1209A) were found in West Mexico in the mid-20th century by the late Lynn Langdon. Included in the group are beads and spindle whorls of various sizes, shapes, and decor made of stone, ceramic and shell. Condition ranges from fairly good to excellent. The serrated edges along the rounded portions at the ends of the central design probably represent bird wings or feathers. Identified as a Mimbres Black-on-White bowl dating c.975-1150AD, and attributed to the Mogollon cultural horizon, the bowl (GLC538A) has been glued together with minor restoration (less than 5%). There is a small amount of reddish oxidation along the upper rim on the inside of part of the bowl that occurred during the original firing. The zoomorphic handle (a dog head?) on this interesting prehistoric Indian pitcher (GL582) is original and intact. From the collection of the late Gene Lang of Denver, Colorado, he typed the piece as a Wingate Polychrome dating c.1125-1200AD from the Anasazi cultural group.
